A4EP Principal at the Grand Bargain

Mr Muhammad Amad holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Peshawar University. Amad began his career as a lecturer before transitioning to the social sector. He has been the Executive Director of IDEA since 2008, leading over 145 humanitarian and development projects across Pakistan, including responses to major emergencies. As a strong advocate of localisation, Amad has played a key role in increasing funding to local actors through the UN humanitarian pooled fund from 13% to 73%. Amad has been actively involved in the National Humanitarian Network (NHN) since its inception, serving as Chair and in other leadership roles. He contributes to global and regional platforms, including the Grand Bargain, START Network, and NEAR. Amad regularly represents civil society in engagements with governments, the UN, and donors, with a focus on strengthening local organisations and supporting marginalised communities.

He had the privilege of being a founding member of A4EP and has been actively engaged with the network since its inception in 2018. He is well acquainted with A4EP’s evolution, mission, and priorities. As an ICC member, he contributed to resolving several complex issues and supported the implementation of Grand Bargain commitments. With his extensive engagement in the Grand Bargain process, he currently shoulders the responsibility of representing the network as Principal at the Grand Bargain.

A4EP Sherpa at the Grand Bargain

Josephine Alabi is the Executive Director of Keen and Care Initiative (KCI) in Nigeria. She is experienced in the fields of Peace and Security, Research, Humanitarian issues, Human Rights, Gender, Extractive issues (Oil, Gas & Mining), Migration, Cross-border trade issues, Elections, Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), Global partnership, etc. Josephine studied Pure and Applied Mathematics in her first degree and Economics in her higher degrees. She is also part of different sectors and networks within and outside Africa. She had the opportunity to be part of some very important missions. Josephine Alabi also works closely with some other organisations, e.g., International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA); Gender Equality Network on Small Arms Control (GENSAC); Peace and Security Cluster, African Union (AU) ECOSOCC; Democracy Without Borders (DWB); Global Interagency Security Forum (GISF); International Code of Conduct (ICoCA); Alliance for Empowering Partnership (A4EP), etc. In addition, her work promotes and supports the Global Partnership Campaign.

A4EP Focal Point at the Grand Bargain

Mr Gershom Kabaso Jr. of Zambia is a human rights activist and development practitioner with over 18 years of experience across humanitarian and development sectors. He holds a Master of Arts in Development Studies from the University of Lusaka and a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from the University of South Africa. He has worked extensively with vulnerable communities, civil society organisations, and social movements at local, national, regional, and global levels. His expertise spans humanitarian action, food sovereignty, environmental sustainability, peacebuilding, and social mobilisation, grounded in a strong commitment to Pan-African and global solidarity.

Gershom currently serves as National Coordinator of the Zambia Social Forum and Africa Coordinator for the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty. He also holds leadership roles in regional and global networks, including A4EP, LDC Watch, and IBON International Africa.

He is currently the A4EP Focal Person at the Grand Bargain. With his deep engagement in civil society processes, he is well-positioned to advance the localisation agenda, promote equitable partnerships, and strengthen accountability to affected communities on behalf of local and national actors.
